Road trip - Vancouver island

Stayed at a friends flat in Van for a few days then she took us to her parents house for the night which is on a small island called Protection, just off Vancouver island. We caught a ferry from Vancouver to Nanaimo (vancouver island) then we were met by her dad who took us on his little boat to Protection island, which is only about one square mile in size. It was her dads birthday and hes a proper old school hippy and part time carpenter and their place is amazing. He built the whole thing himself from trees/timber on the island.
We had a great home cooked steak dinner and all sat down after to watch the Vancouver ice hockey play off game which they won 5-1.
