Road Trip - Yosemite - Day two

Whilst we were having dinner yesterday it began to snow! With that in mind I went to bed last night tooled up with 6 tops, a coat, jeans, hat and 2 pairs of socks and slept like a baby.

Woke up to a completely different picture with clear blue skys and baking temperatures in the sun.
Went to the Ansel Adams gallery in the morning then hiked to the base of the biggest waterfall in the park, Yosemite falls, which is actually two falls, one mahoosive and one slightly smaller lower down. As its spring/summer all the snow and ice at the top of the mountains is melting so the falls are at their greatest size. Every now and then you can hear huge crashes where big chunks of ice have gone smashing down the waterfall, making the whole thing even more impressive.
After that we hiked up half dome mountain and was surprised at how similar the terrain was to the inca trail in Peru.

As we were walking up in our shorts & t-shirts we passed two people half way up coming down in ski boots with skis strapped to their backs. Had a quick chat with them & they had actually been skiing up there that day trying to get a bit of fresh powder from the snow the night before!
